The
National Institute for Chemical Studies' mission is to help communities
manage chemical risks.
The mission may involve projects initiated by NICS or other parties related
to the:
- Manufacture of chemicals at fixed sites,
- Transportation of chemicals on highways, rail lines and barges,
- Storage of chemicals where they are manufactured or used,
- Disposal of chemicals to the air, water or land, or
- Public policy and regulation that involve the public's right to know
and to participate in the resolution of health, safety and environmental
issues as they relate to chemical risks.
