Who We Are

NICS helps communities manage safety, health and environmental risks associated with the manufacture, storage, transportation and disposal of chemicals.

NICS is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization headquartered in Charleston, West Virginia.

What We Do

NICS works mainly through federal, state, county and local government agencies as well as businesses on a broad range of projects related to chemical risks in communities. Stakeholders initiate some of the projects, and NICS initiates others. NICS encourages dialogue, based on sound information, by all parties to chemical risk issues.

How We Do It

NICS designs, manages, implements and reviews projects for or with the stakeholder groups mentioned above. NICS brings objectivity, knowledge and experience to the projects. We offer stakeholders:

  • Research / Training / Education / Consultation Services
  • Project managers that include Ph.D.s, Professional Engineers, and other professionals with experience in their respective fields.
  • Expertise in chemical risk management, environmental issues and public policy.
